The city of Lazarevac commenced the Peštan Water Supply System construction in 1996. because of an acute water defficiency. The Peštan System serves as a transient solution up to the Rovni Regional Water Supply System completion. It is based on local groundwater source use. The water treatment plant design provides phasal construction. The first phase plant of the 200 l/s capacity is completed and started the operation in June 1998. The first level water treatment process take place in the plant: | Aeration | | Retention, with addition of aluminum sulphate | | Two-layer filters anthracite-sand | | Water hloration and fluoration |
The higher water treatment level represents the second phase, the ozonation, activated carbon filtration, and is located in the separate building, the construction of which was started but had to be stopped because of the lack of financing.
